US Collegiate Market Expansion - Smith College Womens Rugby
HITIQ Limited (ASX: HIQ) (“HITIQ” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the first commercial deployment of its PROTEQT™ instrumented mouthguard platform in the United States, with Smith College purchasing the technology to support a pioneering concussion research program in women’s collegiate rugby. The partnership with Smith College’s Motor Neuroscience and Neuroimaging Laboratory, led by concussion researcher Dr Ingo Helmich, will see PROTEQT™ used to measure head impact exposure in women’s rugby players and integrate this data with advanced neuroimaging techniques to better understand concussion risk and recovery in female athletes in an NCAA Emerging Sport.
This agreement marks HITIQ’s further expansion into the influential US collegiate sports market, building on prior US university research deployments and establishing PROTEQT™ as a reference technology for concussion management and brain health research. With more than 500,000 NCAA student-athletes across over 1,100 institutions and a strong regulatory focus on athlete safety, the Smith College deployment creates a strategic foothold for broader PROTEQT™ adoption across US collegiate athletics and, in turn, downstream opportunities in youth and high school sport.
